The judges, at the meeting, decided to disclose their assets to the Chief Justice of India.
The declarations will also be uploaded on the Supreme Court’s official website.
The specific modalities for publishing the judges’ asset declarations will be finalised in due course, the report stated.
Notably, all Judges of the Supreme Court have already submitted their declaration of assets. However, these declarations have not been made public.
The move comes days after the Law Ministry in the Parliament answered questions on assets owned by judges.
The Ministry had said that the declaration of assets is completely on voluntary basis in line with the Supreme Court Constitution bench judgments.
However, the government had clarified before the Parliament on March 27, that no record of assets of judges was maintained by the Centre.
The development comes in the wake of the recent controversy surrounding the purported discovery of burnt wads of cash from the official residence of Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma, following a fire incident there.
Later, the law ministry issued a notification announcing Justice Varma’s transfer.
Meanwhile, Justice Varma denounced any insinuation and said no cash was ever placed in the storeroom of his residence either by him or any of his family members.
