Abhishek’s response had the audience in splits. He quipped, “Tumhari shaadi nahi hui hai na abhi tak. Jab ho jaayegi, you will have the answer."
The actor, who has been married to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan since 2007, added. “When you get the call from the Mrs and she says ‘I want to talk,’ you know you are in trouble. Yeah, that’s it," which drew cheers and laughter from the audience.
For those unfamiliar, there have been ongoing rumours about a possible divorce between Abhishek and Aishwarya. Neither of them has addressed these speculations.
Despite the speculations, the couple has been seen together at family events. In December, they attended their daughter Aaradhya’s annual function at Dhirubhai Ambani International School with Amitabh Bachchan.
Talking about Abhishek’s film, I Want to Talk, directed by Soojit Sircar, is based on the real-life story of Arjun Sen, a cancer survivor who undergoes a life-changing surgery. Alongside this physical struggle, the character also deals with a complicated relationship with his daughter. The film was released in theatres on November 22 last year.
Abhishek shared with News18 that he had been waiting to collaborate with Soojit Sircar for a long time.
“Soojit and I have been friends for a long time. We wanted to work together for years and I’m glad it finally happened. It is a very special film that is close to my heart. I would like to thank him for believing in me and making such a touching film," he said.
Abhishek also revealed how much his father appreciated the film. “We tend to forget that apart from being the legend that he is, he is also a father. And I’m glad that, as a son, I get to make him proud. I work to make my family happy and, of course, for the fans but getting his validation means a lot to me."
