J-Hope recalled how he had to shower with the other soldiers while serving in the South Korean military.

BTS star J-Hope has been officially discharged from his mandatory military service; however, his stories from the camp are still far from over. The idol completed his duties on October 17, 2024, returning to a warm welcome from fans and friends after an 18-month stay in the South Korean military. In a recent conversation, J-Hope recalled a few anecdotes from those days, even opening up about having his first “military shower" with fellow soldiers.

As Jung enquired about the BTS star’s first bath, J-Hope recalled doing it together with the others. “We all do it the same way, and for me, that was the most embarrassing. As soon as I entered, I immediately thought, ‘How am I supposed to shower here?’ That thought struck me right away! and I just decided to be bold about it," he shared. J-Hope said how he tried to joke in the situation about flaunting his “celebrity body" – something he hasn’t done for a while.
The clip widely went viral, leaving fans cheering for the idol as many found his reaction to be cool and fun. One wrote, “What a great mind, what a great personality," while another added, “As far as I know, celebrities are given separate shower times, but J-Hope is surprising."
“I was in the same training camp as J-Hope, and he was really cool," one of the users claimed. Another comment read, “Life lessons from BTS: Be bold and confident. Loved this attitude from JHope – also reminded me of Jungkook cutting his bangs in #AYS and Jimin’s confidence in showing his waking self in the same programme."
Elsewhere in the conversation, J-Hope spoke about his last few weeks before military discharge. “About a month before discharge, all sorts of thoughts began to fill my head. Back then, I would think about when the time would pass or when I would be discharged. The same when moving from Private First Class to Corporal and then to Sergeant. I was like, ‘Wow, it’s almost there. Just let it end. I can do everything.’ But when the time came closer, I started feeling scared. After such a long break, I was worried about whether I could adjust and overcome quickly. So I just decided to immerse myself in the culture I love."
Following his military departure, J-Hope has been quite busy with his professional commitments, which include his debut solo tour, Hope On The Stage, and latest single, Mona Lisa.
