Olympian Sharath Kamal Reveals He Wants Vicky Kaushal To Star In His Biopic
Olympian Sharath Kamal wants Vicky Kaushal to play him in his biopic. Before a film, however, the table tennis champion plans to tell his story through a book.

Olympian and former Indian table tennis star Sharath Kamal recently spoke about his career, retirement, and the politics of sports in a candid chat with Free Press Journal. During the conversation, he was asked a fun question: who would he like to see play him in a biopic? His answer — without hesitation — was Vicky Kaushal.
Before thinking about a film, however, Sharath shared that he plans to first write a book about his journey. “Writing gives you clarity," he explained. “It helps paint the complete picture. Once that’s done, maybe a movie will happen. But honestly, I don’t know if my sport is popular enough for the industry to pick it up."

When it came to casting, he had one requirement: the actor should be tall. “So, we can probably have Vicky Kaushal," he said with a smile.
Vicky Kaushal, already a favorite for biopic roles, has portrayed real-life heroes in Sardar Udham, Sam Bahadur, and Chhaava, and has more lined up. His knack for playing complex, real-world characters makes him a natural choice for a story like Sharath’s.
Vicky’s latest success, Chhaava — where he portrayed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj — turned out to be a massive hit, earning ₹600.6 crore at the box office and becoming the second-highest-grossing Hindi film to date.
Up next, Vicky Kaushal will be seen in Mahavatar, based on the life of Chiranjeevi Parashurama, directed by Stree 2 filmmaker Amar Kaushik. Fans are also eagerly awaiting Love & War, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, where Vicky stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
