In a 2010 Directors’ Union show, Vijay, a big fan of Rajinikanth, shared how the superstar helped him enter the film industry. Vijay explained that after struggling with his studies, he told his father he wanted to join cinema. He shared, “I was quite weak in studies, and after my tenth standard, I was at a crossroads. Since I had an interest in cinema, I expressed the same to my father. However, he wasn’t accepting of the idea. There was a lot of struggle that went behind him giving the green signal."
He added, “I recreated the famous Rajini sir dialogue from Annamalai. It was about waging a challenge, and how he’d get the better of his friend-turned-villain. I spoke that dialogue, shot it on video, and showed it to my dad. Then, he decided to launch me in Naalaiya Theerpu."
Jana Nayagan marks Thalapathy Vijay’s final cinematic venture before transitioning fully into politics. In February 2024, he founded the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party and has since been actively involved in political activities. He announced his departure from films the same year to focus on his political aspirations. According to some reports, his party plans to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. In this film, Vijay will share screen with Pooja Hegde, who plays the lead opposite him, while Bobby Deol plays the villain.
