Shardul Thakur struck early to remove Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan - two dangerous batsmen - in successive balls to put SRH on the backfoot.

In a high-octane match between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the fiery Sunrisers Hyderabad, pacer Shardul Thakur wreaked havoc by removing opener Abhishek Sharma and the in-form Ishan Kishan in two successive balls to put SRH on the backfoot.
In the very first bowl of the third over, Shardul Thakur removed Abhishek Sharma after the latter tried to go big but found Nicholas Pooran on the square-leg. Sharma looked set with Travis Head after scoring a boundary but went back to the pavilion with only 6 runs.

Ishan Kishan, who scored a majestic 106 not out in the last match against Rajasthan Royals that helped SRH post a record total of 286-6, was out for a golden duck after edging the ball to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant on the next delivery.
Although Nitish Kumar Reddy survived the hat-trick ball, Thakur had done the damage, earning praise from netizens. #Lord Shardul Thakur began trending on social media as the bowler punctured the in-form SRH’s innings with the two early wickets.
Notably, Shardul Thakur was named as a replacement for left-arm fast bowler Mohsin Khan, who has been ruled out of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to injury. he went unsold at the mega auction last year.
Thakur ended up picking four wickets and conceding 34 runs in his four overs as LSG managed to restrict the Pat Cummins-led side to 190-9 in 20 overs, with Travis Head top scoring with a quick-fire 47 and Aniket Verma dominating bowlers with 36 from 13 balls. Cummins also hit three consecutive sixes before being caught on the next ball.
The Rishabh Pant-led franchise will hope to leave that agonising start against Delhi Capitals behind and hope to open their account against a team that has been rewriting IPL history with surreal ease. On the other hand, SRH started their IPL 2025 campaign with a power-packed batting display that saw them rack up the second-highest team total in the league’s history.
