A woman, who was house-hunting in Gurgaon, had an unusual experience after a prospective renter asked her about her love life. She got in touch with the person through a Facebook group called Flat and Flatmates (Gurgaon). The interaction quickly became a topic of amusement and debate online.

The woman posted a screengrab of the conversation, showing the renter asking her if she had “a date." Thinking the question referred to her moving date, she said she could shift either in the last week of December or the first week of January.

The renter explained she was asking if the woman had a boyfriend. The woman replied yes, mentioning her boyfriend also lived in Gurgaon.

What followed was even more bizarre. The renter asked if her relationship was “serious." When the woman confirmed, the renter stated she preferred casual relationships and wanted a flatmate who shared that preference.

The unusual exchange left the woman surprised. She shared it online with the caption, “House hunting in Gurgaon is wild." The post quickly went viral, with users reacting with a mix of humour and disbelief.

Many comments were filled with laughter emojis, while others criticized the line of questioning. One user quipped, “Haunted houses are far better," while another joked, “Kya kya ho raha hai duniya mein."

The incident highlights the challenges single, working women face while house-hunting in the National Capital Region (NCR). Prospective tenants, particularly women, are often asked intrusive questions.

Common queries include, “Do you smoke, drink, or party late?" and “Do you invite boys to your place?" Many women say these questions feel invasive and unnecessary.
