US Influencer Follows Viral Carnivore Diet, Lands In Hospital With Kidney Stone
Eve Catherine’s diet consisted of eating two or three eggs for breakfast, high-protein yogurt for lunch and a New York strip steak for dinner.

Social media is a place where trends constantly emerge and influencers play a major role in prompting them. But blindly following these trends can lead to dangerous consequences as seen in the case of a US-based influencer. Eve Catherine, a Dallas-based influencer, ended up in the hospital after consuming excessive protein while following the viral “carnivore diet."
The diet, which has gained popularity in recent years, focuses on eating only animal-based foods such as beef, poultry, pork, fish and other animal byproducts. Many influencers, including podcast host Joe Rogan, have praised it. But health experts have warned that this extreme way of eating can lead to serious health issues, New York Post reported.

Eve Catherine shared her experience on TikTok where she disclosed her diet that comprises eating two or three eggs for breakfast, high-protein yogurt for lunch and a New York strip steak for dinner.
During a routine check-up, her doctor noticed high protein levels in her urine but she didn’t take it seriously at the time. Then, one day, she woke up to find she was urinating blood. She was rushed to the emergency room, put on morphine and diagnosed with a kidney stone.
“I literally woke up one day and I was peeing straight blood," she recalled in her video. She also admitted that she had been “addicted to protein" before the health scare.
After her hospitalisation, she called the carnivore diet “stupid" and urged her followers to be cautious.
“Don’t eat too much protein, OK? Don’t neglect your fiber intake," she said.
Medical experts have long warned about the risks of consuming too much protein especially for those with underlying kidney issues. The Mayo Clinic states that high-protein diets can strain the kidneys, making it harder for the body to filter out waste. Moreover, these diets often lack fiber which can lead to digestive problems like constipation, headaches and bad breath. Eating excessive amounts of red meat and processed meats can also increase the risk of heart disease.
Despite these warnings, many social media users dismissed Catherine’s experience in the comments. But there were others who thanked her for speaking out and raising awareness about the dangers of extreme diets.
Catherine isn’t the only one to face serious health issues from following the carnivore diet. A man from Florida, in his mid-40s, also experienced severe side effects after sticking to the meat- and dairy-heavy diet for around eight months. He ended up in the hospital with yellowish, ooze-producing nodules on his palms, elbows and soles of his feet.
