Iran Bans Passengers From Carrying Electronic Communication Devices On Flights; Only Mobile Phones Allowed

Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization on Saturday said except for mobile phones, it has banned electronic communication devices, such as pagers and walkie-talkies, from airplane cabins or checked-in luggage.
According to news service Iran International English, carriers like Emirates and others in the region implemented similar restrictions following last month’s explosion in Lebanon involving Hezbollah’s communication devices.

Weeks after the sabotage attacks, on October 5, Dubai-based airline Emirates was the first to ban pagers and walkie-talkies onboard following the sabotage attacks. “All passengers travelling on flights to, from or via Dubai are prohibited from transporting pagers and walkie-talkies in checked or cabin baggage," it said.
In a statement posted on its website, Emirates said “such items found in passengers’ hand luggage or checked baggage will be confiscated by Dubai Police".
The blasts in September killed at least 37 people and wounded nearly 3,000 across Lebanon.
