With the Rajasthan Royals struggling to find their form in the Indian Premier League 2025 season, the Head Coach, Rahul Dravid, has dismissed any ideas regarding the young star, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, getting a start in the side to boost their top-order.

The Royals have lost their first two games of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively. Alongside the Mumbai Indians, they are the only two sides that have yet to pick up their first points of the season.

Among the biggest concerns in the Royals camp is the form of the top-order. Sanju Samson, after scoring a fifty in the opening game, has not been able to get in touch. In addition, the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag have struggled to get big scores as well.

A possible change that the Royals could look at is to bring in the 14-year-old star. But Dravid dismissed this idea, considering that they want to get used to practicing with the senior stars and building the experience in general before throwing him into the field.

“He is training really well, and he looks like a really good and exciting talent but there are other equally good players as well and part of our responsibility is to groom him well, give him a little bit of time in the environment, let him get used to it and practice with the players, let him get a feel of the environment, all these are great experiences for him, rather than putting him straight in front of the crowd so it’s a part of the process we follow in grooming a player and if an opportunity arises we won’t be scared to play him if it is required," Dravid said in the pre-match press conference.

The Royals will be back in action for their third game of the season, taking on the Chennai Super Kings at the Baraspara Stadium in Guwahati on March 30, 2025 (Sunday) evening. RR will look to get their first points of the season, but that would mean that the top-order gets back to their best form.
