Deepak Chahar’s sister, Malti, trolled the fast bowler after his Mumbai Indians (MI) debut against his former team Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Chahar, who spent seven seasons with CSK, had a good outing in his first appearance for MI in IPL 2025 at the M Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
He chipped in with an impactful 28-run cameo with the bat before picking one wicket while defending a tricky 156-run target at Chepauk. However, despite his efforts, MI lost to their arch-rivals by four wickets. During the match, Malti dropped a hilarious meme on her Instagram Story, referring to her brother’s past relationship with CSK. Her post featured a popular backstabbing scene from the movie, ‘Baahubali‘.

Chahar sparked a bidding war at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Punjab Kings and MI were keen to sign the 32-year-old who came with a base price of Rs 2 crore. CSK also joined to raise the paddle but MI ultimately sealed the deal at Rs 9.25 crore.
MI faced a top-order collapse in their campaign opener. Rohit Sharma, was dismissed for a duck by Khaleel Ahmed. The CSK pacer also got the better of the other opener, Ryan Rickelton, early in the powerplay.
All-rounder Tilak Varma and stand-in captain Sukrakumar Yadav made some valuable contributions, scoring 31 and 29 runs respectively. Powered by Chahar’s blazing knock down the order, MI set a target of 156 runs.
In the second innings, Noor Ahmed emerged as the best bowler for CSK with a four-wicket haul while Khaleel took three. Chahar drew the first blood for MI, dismissing Rahul Tripathi in the second over of the run chase. Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad then stitched a 68-run partnership to build the foundation.
Debutant Vignesh Puthu gave MI some hope by claiming three wickets in quick succession. It, however, wasn’t enough to change the course of the match as CSK completed the chase with five balls in hand.
