Patna Firing Incident: Four criminals opened fire outside a house in broad daylight in Patna’s Kankarbagh area on February 18, causing panic among the residents, said police officials.

Tejashwi Yadav, former Bihar Deputy CM and RJD leader, slammed the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government for increasing crime rates in the state, alleging that crimes like firing and kidnapping happen every day in Patna.

    The officials said that the suspects, believed to have carried out the firing for an extortion demand, barricaded themselves inside a nearby house following the incident.

    “Four rounds of firing were done. Four people have been detained and taken into custody in the incident. No one was injured in the incident. All the civilians inside the building are safe," said Patna SSP Awakash Kumar.

    The STF reached the crime scene along with the police teams and surrounded the entire building from all sides to nab the assailants. Patna SSP along with all the top officers present at the spot during the operation.

    Tejashwi Slams NDA Govt

    Reacting to the firing incident in Patna, Yadav launched a blistering attack against the BJP-led NDA government in Bihar, alleging a failure of law and order situation in the state.

    “Crime is increasing day by day in the state. We have been saying several times that there is not a single day when more than two hundred rounds of bullets are not fired in Bihar. It happens every day. Kidnapping is happening everywhere in Patna. You can see this in many places," Yadav said.

    “People are tortured in police custody. They die in custody, and no one answers it. The Chief Minister has nothing to do with it…If only follows what his officials tell him," he added.

      Meanwhile, the police said that they have launched a manhunt to nab the other absconding accused in connection with the firing incident.
