Saurabh Murder Case: Meerut Jail On Edge As Accused Muskan Rastogi, Sahil Shukla Demand Govt Lawyers
Sahil Shukla and Muskan Rastogi, accused in the Saurabh murder case, have formally submitted applications requesting government-appointed lawyers.

Meerut’s central jail administration is currently dealing with the growing demands of Sahil Shukla and Muskan Rastogi, both accused in the high-profile Saurabh murder case. Though housed in separate barracks, their behaviour inside the prison remains strikingly similar. In a fresh development, the two have formally submitted applications requesting government-appointed lawyers. Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma confirmed the request in an exclusive interview with News18, stating that both inmates spend most of their time fixated on the television, which is available in each barrack and runs at scheduled intervals.
A notable detail emerging from the investigation is that neither Sahil nor Muskan have received any visitors since their incarceration. Muskan’s parents have explicitly refused to support her legal defence, distancing themselves from their daughter. The prison authorities have also taken a psychological approach to their rehabilitation, subjecting both inmates to hours of counselling and enrollment in a programme. Furthermore, they have been integrated into a routine involving yoga and meditation, with meals strictly adhering to jail protocols.

Despite speculation surrounding Muskan’s condition, the jail superintendent clarified that there was no necessity for a pregnancy test. Meanwhile, in an emotional turn, Muskan’s parents, interviewed by News18, broke down in tears, expressing their devastation. Overcome with grief, they shockingly advocated for the death penalty for their daughter, blaming Sahil for manipulating and ruining Muskan’s life. Her mother, Kavita, and father, Pramod, described Sahil as the greatest enemy of their family, alleging that his influence led to their daughter’s downfall.
In a strategic move, the police have decided against seeking custody remand for Sahil and Muskan. Instead, interrogation will take place within the jail premises, led by case investigator Inspector Ramakant Pachauri. The police plan to press the duo on several unanswered questions, including the exact motive behind Saurabh’s murder – whether it stemmed from an illicit relationship or other circumstances – and to determine the involvement of additional conspirators. Brahmapuri police are expected to visit the jail soon for further questioning.

The police’s decision to keep Sahil and Muskan within the jail stems from heightened public outrage. During their initial court appearance, both were physically assaulted by lawyers, highlighting the intense emotions surrounding the case. Officials believe that removing them from prison at this stage could expose them to serious threats.
Reports suggest that Sahil and Muskan have been habitual drug users since 2019, reportedly consuming injectable narcotics along with other substances. Their toxic bond began at a school reunion and spiraled into criminal activity. Before Saurabh’s murder, the duo allegedly indulged in heavy drug use and, following the crime, fled to Kasol, an area notorious for drug abuse. This was not their first trip; they had previously travelled to Manali and Kasol, presumably for similar reasons.
Adding another chilling layer to the case, sources have disclosed that Sahil was deeply involved in occult practices. Shocking items recovered from his room, ranging from eerie paintings to cryptic symbols, hint at his participation in ‘Panchamundi Tantra Kriya’, a dark ritual linked to occult circles. Such practices, often pursued in the hopes of wealth and power, frequently lead followers into ruin.
