Sahil Shukla, the accused in the Saurabh Rajput murder case, was assaulted by fellow inmates at Chaudhary Charan Singh district jail in Meerut, prison officials said. Reports indicate that upon learning of the murder, enraged prisoners attacked Sahil, slapping him repeatedly and untying his hair. Following the incident, the jail administration moved Sahil to a separate barrack.
Sources have revealed that Saurabh’s wife and co-accused, Muskan, was known to use drug injections, and needle marks have been found on her hands. Muskan is still recovering from her addiction, and the police plan to take her and Sahil on remand once she is stable.

According to PTI, Muskan and Sahil are struggling to adjust to life in jail, with prison officials reporting that they are experiencing drug withdrawal symptoms. The court has placed them in judicial custody for 14 days.
Jail sources indicate that both individuals are displaying signs of severe distress. A source mentioned, “Muskan and Sahil are unable to sleep properly and are refusing food and water." While some believe this might be due to remorse, jail officials point to drug withdrawal as the cause.
Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma stated, “Both Sahil and Muskan have been using drugs for a long time. As a result, they are experiencing restlessness and are unable to sleep at night."
Doctors have prescribed medication to help manage their symptoms, and a dedicated team is monitoring their condition. Police investigations have revealed that the two accused regularly consumed drugs and alcohol.
Notably, since their incarceration, neither of the accused has had any visitors, according to a source.
According to PTI, Rajput was drugged and then allegedly murdered by his wife Muskan and her lover Sahil on March 4. His body was dismembered into 15 pieces and sealed inside a drum with cement. The couple then travelled to Himachal Pradesh on an 11-day trip, misleading Rajput’s family by sending messages from his phone. The incident was reported to the police on March 18, leading to their arrest.
Muskan and Rajput married in 2016 despite his family’s objections, following a relationship, and they have a six-year-old daughter. Muskan and Sahil had known each other since school and reconnected through a WhatsApp group in 2019, according to police reports.
