Shahberi Road Widening Project: Ghaziabad-Greater Noida Road Shut For 20 Days; Details Here
The Shahberi Road connecting Ghaziabad and Greater Noida is being expanded to prevent congestion in the wake of an anticipated increase in traffic flow once the Noida Airport becomes operational.

The expansion of the Shahberi route linking Ghaziabad and Greater Noida commenced on March 25 (Tuesday). The 3-kilometre corridor project is expected to be completed within 20 days. The road will be widened by 1.5 meters on both sides.
The expansion plan also aims to expedite the construction of the subway near the Char Murti Roundabout. The Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the expansion, which also includes the construction of an elevated road.

Shahberi Route Expansion: What We Know?
The route starts at the Eteda roundabout in Greater Noida and is currently just three meters wide with only one lane, causing traffic problems particularly during peak hours. A further increase in traffic is being anticipated once the Noida Airport becomes operational, which is why authorities are expanding the road to alleviate congestion.
Thousands of vehicles travel through this route on a daily basis, causing traffic snarls that greatly inconvenience the public. The construction of an elevated road is underway, and ongoing work over an underpass at the Char Murti roundabout will also be expedited after the widening of the Shahberi Road.
Which Routes Will Be Diverted?
From March 25, vehicles traveling from Eteda Roundabout through Shahberi towards Ghaziabad have been using the 130-metre section between Gaur Chowk and Tikari Roundabout as the main route. Drivers heading from Tilpata to Ghaziabad should turn right at the Ek Murti Roundabout to reach Roza Chowka, Chaprola Railway Crossing, and Lal Kuan.
As an alternative to Shahberi Road during the diversion period, vehicles from NH-24 via ABES, Ghaziabad, should use the Vijaynagar Bypass Road, which runs 130 metres along the Tikari Roundabout and Gaur Chowk.
