Heavy rains are likely in 10 districts of Tamil Nadu, including Kanyakumari, Nellai, Thoothukudi and Madurai on Friday.
Due to a shift in the speed of the easterly winds, several areas of Tamil Nadu experienced rainfall on Thursday night, including Senthamangalam, Mangudi, Kamalapuram, Vadapadhimangalam, and Adiyakkamangalam. The India Meteorological Department states that moderate rains with thunder and lightning may occur in coastal Tamil Nadu, interior Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Friday.

Heavy rain is likely in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Thanjavur and Madurai districts. Chennai city is also likely to receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning on Friday.
India Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rain in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts on Saturday.
The prediction is particularly worrisome for farmers as the harvest season is in full swing in the delta districts. Farmers have expressed anguish over water accumulating in the paddy procurement centre, which is functioning in a temporary shed in Okai Peraiyur under Koothanallur taluk of Tiruvarur district. Many have demanded that a permanent building be constructed to store the paddy bundles safely.
Chief Minister MK Stalin held a video conference with the District Collectors of Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore and Pudukkottai at the Secretariat in Chennai, directing them to take necessary precautions to ensure that the bundles of paddy procured from farmers are not damaged.
