Unable To Fast In Navratri Due To Periods, Jhansi Woman Dies By Suicide
Priyansha Soni, 36, from Jhansi, committed suicide after being unable to observe the Navratri fast due to her periods. Despite initial medical treatment, she passed away. Investigation is ongoing

A tragic case of suicide has emerged in Jhansi, where a woman ended her life because she was unable to observe the Navratri fast.
Priyansha Soni, aged 36, resided with her husband Mukesh Soni in the Panna Lal Gola Kuan locality, under the jurisdiction of the city police station in Jhansi district. The couple had two young daughters, Janvi, aged three and a half, and Manvi, aged two and a half.

According to Mukesh, Priyansha was very enthusiastic about the Navratri festival and was actively preparing for it, with Mukesh also supporting her. However, on the day Navratri commenced, Priyansha began her periods, preventing her from starting the fast or worshipping the Goddess, which left her deeply saddened. Despite Mukesh’s attempts to comfort her, she remained distressed.
The following day, while Mukesh was at the shop, Priyansha ingested poison. Upon discovering her condition, she was immediately taken to Jhansi Medical College, where her health initially improved with treatment.
Unfortunately, upon returning home, her condition deteriorated again, and she was rushed to Jhansi District Hospital, where she passed away during treatment.
The body has been sent for postmortem. Circle Officer City Sneha Tiwari has confirmed the incident of suicide. Further legal action is being taken as the investigation continues.
