BLACKPINK’s Rose Faces Criticism For Not Supporting Wildfire Relief Efforts, Fans Come To Her Defence
Reportedly, 30 people have lost their lives and thousands of buildings including a centuries-old Buddhist temple were destroyed in South Korean wildfires.

The recent wildfires in South Korea have caused extensive damage, leaving many communities in dire need of assistance. In the wake of this crisis, several K-pop celebrities have come forward to support relief efforts, with some making generous donations. However, others have faced backlash for not participating. BLACKPINK’s Rose has become one of the targets of this criticism.
The controversy began after Rose shared a post on Instagram Stories where she reposted a fan account’s detailed breakdown of one of her recent outfits. In the caption, she wrote, “These are a few of my favourite things…"

On Nate Pann, a South Korean online forum, one user criticised the singer, writing, “Yeah. She didn’t even donate and is busy showing off her luxury goods, LOL."
Most people in the comment section of the post defended Rose. They argued that the criticism was unfair and that no one should be forced to make donations publicly.
One user commented, “The BLACKPINK haters have been hating on Jennie until this afternoon, and now that Jisoo’s donation news is out, they are going after Rosé. These crazy ahjummas, what should we do about them?"
Another added, “But why is only BLACKPINK receiving this kind of criticism? Other groups have also donated, but not as a whole group—just one or two members. There are plenty of groups that didn’t donate at all, but people are only grabbing BLACKPINK by the hair."
“Please stop making posts like these. Donations shouldn’t be forced. Did you donate?" someone questioned.
A fan wrote, “I’m curious, but what did you guys do for BLACKPINK? You’ve been criticising them all the time, but now you’re holding onto their donation money? If someone saw this, they’d think you’re paying them their salary."
One pointed out, “That’s clearly an ad. She has to work after all."
Previously, BLACKPINK member Jennie faced similar criticism when she was accused of not donating to the relief efforts. However, it was later revealed by the Hope Bridge Korea Relief Association that she had, in fact, made a significant contribution.
The latest reports confirm that the recent wildfires have claimed the lives of 30 people, with thousands of buildings, including a centuries-old Buddhist temple, destroyed. The fires, which scorched approximately 48,000 hectares of land, were officially extinguished by Monday, according to a statement from the Korea Forest Service to CNN.
More than 3,100 people were evacuated to 114 shelters as a result of the wildfires. Additionally, five areas—Uiseong, Andong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok—have been declared special disaster zones, according to the department.
