BTS Star Jin Volunteers At Relief Centre For South Korea’s Wildfire Victims, Internet Reacts

A series of devastating wildfires have been ravaging South Korea’s southeastern regions since last week, destroying thousands of structures and even forcing people to flee their homes. Amid this crisis, many South Korean celebrities have come forward to support the victims and the firefighters by making generous donations or helping out in any way they can. Among them is BTS’ Jin, aka Kim Seokjin.
On Thursday, April 3, he was spotted actively distributing free meals to the victims of the devastating wildfires and the firefighters. As reported by Korean media outlets, the K-pop star volunteered at Gilam Middle School, a designated relief centre for those affected, in Gilan-myeon, Andong City.

The volunteer work is a free meal service that is being carried out by Theborn Korea, led by the renowned chef Baek Jong Won. They have been providing over 300 servings of food at each meal since March 28 to the victims of the disaster and firefighters. It is being reported that Jin travelled to Andong following his close friend, Baek Jong Won. While he made efforts to hide his identity by wearing a black cap, a mask and an apron, his volunteering work did not go unnoticed.
His pictures and videos from the centre immediately went viral on the internet, with his fans praising his on-ground efforts to support the victims. His low-key appearance and genuine effort to help those in need touched the hearts of many. Taking to X, many of his fans reacted to his kind gesture.

“This is why I look up to him, he inspires us all to be better human beings by doing good deeds," noted a different fan.

As reported by Newsen, BTS’ Jin talked about his motivation behind his volunteer work, saying, “I decided to participate in volunteer work because I wanted to provide even a small amount of help to those affected by the wildfires."
Apart from Jin’s volunteer work, other BTS members have donated to aid wildfire victims and firefighters. Jungkook has donated 1 billion KRW and V donated 200 million KRW, while RM, J-Hope and Suga each have given 100 million KRW to the cause.
