Dibyendu Bhattacharya Says Anushka Sharma's Chakda Xpress Is A 'Very Well-Made' Film, Speaks On Delay
Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya discussed the delay of Anushka Sharma's film Chakda Xpress, a biopic of Jhulan Goswami. Despite being completed, its release is uncertain.

Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who has worked in Anushka Sharma’s unreleased film Chakda Xpress, spoke about its delay. He mentioned that while he does not know the exact reason, the film is very well-made. The film, a biopic of Jhulan Goswami, was to mark Anushka’s comeback project after Zero in 2018. However, the project has been kept on hold indefinitely.
When questioned about the delay in the release of Netflix film Chakda Xpress, Dibyendu mentioned that the shoot has been completed. “I don’t know much either, but it’s a very well-made film. Yes, the film is complete, and it has turned out to be excellent—truly a brilliant film. Anushka Sharma has delivered one of her best performances to date. However, I have no idea when this film will be released or what will happen with it. I can only hope. I haven’t spoken to the makers to understand why the release is getting delayed. Is it a censor board issue? Are there no available screens? Is the film struggling to find a market? As of now, there has been no clear update," he told Bollywood Bubble.

Speaking out more on the issue, he said, “I would definitely like to discuss this and find out what the issue is. But one thing is certain—it’s a brilliant subject, with brilliant performances, and of course, this film deserves to be released. It’s a really well-made film."
Chakda Xpress is backed by Clean Slate Filmz, a production house by Anushka’s brother Karnesh Ssharma. Last year, it was reported that the production house’s partnership with Netflix has ended, resulting in a delay in its slate of releases.
While the exact reason for the deal termination remains unclear, a source told Peeping Moon that “creative disagreements" and “budgetary issues" played a crucial role. The fallout could significantly impact Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress and Vijay Varma-Triptii Dimri’s unreleased film Afghaani Snow, produced under the same banner. Both projects have reportedly completed filming but have yet to receive a release date.
Reportedly, Clean Slate Filmz might repurchase the film from Netflix and might look out for other platforms for release. Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix are yet to address these claims.
