Veteran Bollywood actress Poonam Dhillon made her mark by working alongside actors like Sunil Dutt and Farooq Sheikh early in her career. She is best known for her roles in the 1980s and 90s. She starred in notable films like Trishul (1978), Sohni Mahiwal (1984), Teri Meherbaniyan (1985) and Karma (1986). She later transitioned to television, where she also received much acclaim.

Dhillon gained recognition after winning Miss Young India in 1978. During this beauty pageant, Yash Chopra noticed her, which marked the beginning of her acting career. Poonam Dhillon is still remembered for her outstanding performance in Noorie, where she starred opposite Farooq Sheikh. Her debut film was a super hit.

    Despite maintaining a distance from the industry, Poonam Dhillon has many close friends, including Bollywood actresses Padmini Kolhapure and Rekha. She also collaborated with Sanjay Dutt in several films. Even before taking a break from acting, Poonam and Sanjay were frequently seen together.

    While working with the screenwriters, Poonam frequently visited Salim-Javed’s house, where she would see a young Salman Khan. “He was younger than me by a few years, and I never thought he would be such a big star," she said.

    Poonam Dhillon married filmmaker Ashok Thakeria in 1988, but their marriage ended in divorce after nine years. They had two children together. At the age of 62, Poonam Dhillon now lives with her children, Paloma and Anmol.
