It’s A Wrap For Vijay Varma’s Crime-Thriller Series Matka King
Directed by Nagraj Manjule, Matka King is a tale set in the gritty world of 1960s Mumbai.
Vijay Varma’s fans have a reason to celebrate as his upcoming web series Matka King has officially finished shooting. To mark the occasion, Vijay dropped a picture of a custom-made matka-shaped cake on his Instagram Stories.
The text on the image simply read, “Matka King Wrapped!" The post sparked a wave of excitement amongst fans who had been eagerly waiting for updates on this highly anticipated series. With the shoot now complete, the countdown begins for its trailer and eventual release.

Directed by Sairat and Fandry filmmaker Nagraj Manjule, Matka King is a tale set in the gritty world of 1960s Mumbai. The series promises to bring to life the gripping and often perilous world of Matka gambling, with Kritika Kamra playing a pivotal role alongside Vijay Varma.
Matka King’s cast also includes Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in pivotal roles. The project is bankrolled by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Manjule, along with Gargi Kulkarni, Ashish Aryan, and Ashwini Sidwani, under the banner of Roy Kapur Films. It will release on Amazon Prime Video.
Earlier in an interview, Vijay shared an update on Matka King. The actor said, “I am in the process of wrapping Matka King. It’s again one of those larger-than-life epic stories of a man who found a loophole in the system and made the most out of it."
Speaking about his approach to acting, Vijay added, “The pursuit actually is to be able to push boundaries and check if I can do more than what I did before. It all boils down to the opportunities, and somehow, I’ve been lucky to get great opportunities and to work with directors who see more in me than I see in myself."
In addition to Matka King, Vijay Varma will also be seen in the Netflix original, Gustaakh Ishq. The romance drama also features Fatima Sana Shaikh and Naseeruddin Shah in key roles.
Meanwhile, Vijay is also currently in the headlines due to his personal life. The actor, who has been dating Tamannaah Bhatia for a year now, rumoured to have broken up with her as she wanted to tie the knot soon and he wanted to focus on his career. There is no confirmation on this yet.
