Vishnu Manchu, one of the actors of upcoming film Kannappa, has issued a rather divine warning—anyone who trolls the film might have to face the wrath of Lord Shiva himself! The actor recently made this statement during the promotional event for the film, and while some took it seriously, the internet… well, not so much. Instead of shivering in fear, netizens turned the whole thing into a meme fest.
Telugu actor and producer Vishnu Manchu’s mythological drama also stars Prabhas, Akshay Kumar and Nayanthara.

According to Telugu 360, during the event, Raghu Babu issued a stern warning to trolls, saying, “Anyone who trolls the movie Kannappa will face the wrath and curse of Lord Shiva…" However, his statement didn’t go down well with netizens. While some found it amusing, others brushed it off as a “bizarre marketing stunt."
A Reddit user shared the statement on the platform. Many users expressed their disappointment, while others turned to humour. One joked, “Fear and religion have always worked in this country. I can’t wait to go to hell and be fried in oil because I’ve committed way too many sins."
Another user seemed baffled by the marketing tactic, writing, “What kind of weird marketing is this? Oh god!!!" Meanwhile, a self-proclaimed Shiv devotee weighed in with a witty take: “As an ardent Shiv Bhakt… I can say he doesn’t have this much time."
Some even compared it to previous controversial films, with one comment reading, “In other words, another Adipurush on the way?"
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and backed by veteran actor Mohan Babu, Kannappa brings to life the legendary tale of an ardent Shiva devotee. The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role, with an ensemble cast including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Preity Mukhundhan, and Madhoo.
Kannappa also boasts special cameo appearances by some of Indian cinema’s biggest stars including Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal. The highly anticipated epic is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2025.
