Kim Soo Hyun, one of South Korea’s most renowned actors, has found himself embroiled in controversy over his past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron. Allegations have surfaced claiming that he dated Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor, drawing global attention. Reports suggest that Kim Soo Hyun was 27 when he allegedly began dating the then 15-year-old actress, leading to intense scrutiny from fans and the bereaved family.

One of the most bankable actors in South Korea, Kim Soo Hyun, is popularly recognised for work in shows like My Love from the Star, It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, and most recently, Queen of Tears. Counted among the highest-paid actors in the country, Kim Soo Hyun’s career took a direct hit after allegations surfaced about him dating Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. In further claims, a close family friend of the late actress even blamed Kim Soo Hyun for her death, adding that he tried extorting money from her.
In the aftermath of the claims, Kim Soo Hyun, who is set for the upcoming Disney+ series Knock Off, will seemingly have to wait longer, as the release has not been put on hold. Speaking to the media, Disney+ confirmed the decision, with sources suggesting that the company could even pursue a massive breach of contract lawsuit against the actor. In another major setback, the Queen of Tears star has also lost out on a number of professional ties with international brands like Prada and Dinto and South Korean brands Tous les Jours, K2 Korea, Shinhan Bank, Cuckoo, and more.
Kim Soo Hyun, who enjoys an enormous fan following at home and even abroad, represented over 10 brands before the controversy hit headlines. Apart from that, the actor also faced cancellations of shows owing to security reasons and severe criticism. Soo Hyun was recently slated to attend a fan meeting in Taiwan, which was later postponed. The event would have been the actor’s public appearance since the scandal broke out. In the matter, Soo Hyun could even face a hefty fine of 30 million Taiwanese dollars (approximately Rs 7.80 crore) due to the cancellation. Likewise, the actor’s appearance on the reality show Good Day has also been affected, with reports suggesting that his segments will be removed.
Amid the growing criticism, the actor is likely to face legal consequences as Kim Sae Ron’s family is set to reveal concrete evidence to prove their late daughter’s relationship with Kim Soo Hyin, which reportedly lasted for six years.
