Mahesh Babu And Priyanka Chopra's Film Will Revisit The History Of Kashi: Report
As per a source, the makers are looking to recreate the land of Shiva in Hyderabad, as it’s logistically difficult to shoot a film of this scale at real locations.
Following the historic success of Magadheera, Eega, the Bahubali franchise, and RRR, SS Rajamouli is planning to create another cinematic grandeur in Indian cinema. The filmmaker is gearing up for his next directorial project, an untitled jungle adventure with Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. The shooting is currently underway, and according to the latest report, SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film is deeply rooted in Indian history and also has mythological aspects.
As per a source quoted by Pinkvilla, the makers are looking to recreate the land of Shiva in Hyderabad, as it’s logistically difficult to shoot a film of this scale at real locations. He shared, “The core conflict of the jungle adventure unfolds in Kashi, and the makers are looking to recreate the land of Shiva in Hyderabad, as it’s logistically difficult to film a movie of this scale at real locations. The plot of SSR x SSMB is deeply rooted in the history of Kashi, as the divine past leads to an unforgettable adventure in the present. Kashi serves as a very important character in the film."

Elaborating further, the source said that the filmmaker is looking to shoot the film, tentatively titled SSMB 29, in a hybrid format—at real locations in the forests, as well as at massively mounted sets recreating the monumental places of India.
“Right from forests to rivers to caves – SS Rajamouli is looking to take the audience on an unforgettable adventure in different landscapes. Some of the most virgin locations of India and Africa are being explored to provide an unforgettable cinematic experience," the source added.
While Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj have already begun shooting for the film, Priyanka Chopra joined Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu, and Prithviraj in Odisha on March 11 to shoot the major jungle sequences.
In the same conversation, the source also informed that SSMB 29 will be Priyanka Chopra’s comeback project in India.
The film is said to be presented by a global studio, as the idea is to make an Indian film at par with world standards. An official announcement is anticipated to be made in the next few months, and the film is confirmed for a summer 2027 release. Apart from the trio, a big ensemble has been cast for the film, but the names still remain under wraps.
