Shruti Haasan Remembers Her Favourite Sridevi, Says She Used To Walk Like A Queen
In Puli, Sridevi played the role of Queen Yavanarani, an evil queen of an ancient kingdom. Also, it marked the actress’s comeback to Tamil cinema.

Sridevi and Kamal Haasan, widely recognised as one of the most iconic and successful on-screen pairs, collaborated on multiple projects across various languages and shared a strong bond. Kamal referred to her as his sister. Recently, during an interview, Kamal’s daughter, Shruti Haasan, recalled her fond memories with the late actress during the filming of their 2015 fantasy action film Puli.
Speaking to Filmfare, the Gabbar actress said, “She was peculiarly innocent till the very end. I just found her to be pure, inside something, the way she would talk about stories and then Papa (Kamal Haasan) said, ‘Send her this picture, she’ll love it’. So he sends me a picture of her, her mum and Appa, and she is sitting on her mum’s lap. In two seconds, makeup for Puli was just elaborate and big, she was just in tears, she was like, ‘Can I talk to him? I want to talk about this memory,’ and I just remember that moment. Of course, the rest of the time, she was just commanding and incredibly powerful on set, as the Queen had entered."
