The baby’s 20-year-old mother has been taken into custody in connection with the incident, police said. Police said preliminary investigation revealed the woman delivered the baby at the residence of her husband on Monday afternoon and suffocated it using her shawl and hid the body in the cupboard.

Later in the day she sought treatment at a private hospital for stomach ache. The incident came to light after the hospital authorities questioned her on suspicion. Police suspect she might have killed the baby as the child was born out of an illicit relationship. Her husband working in the Gulf.
