Gukesh brushed past Liren in the summit clash as the Indian GM picked up a 7.5-6.5 win over his Chinese counterpart in an exciting finale.
Liren, who was playing against the odds following a tough year due to mental health struggles, stunned the naysayers in the opening game with a win with black pieces, before holding his lead with a draw in game 2.
Gukesh pegged the Chinese champion back in game 3 with a win to make it all level at 1.5 points each.
Games 4 through 10 witnessed the players shaking hands at the end of each board as they settled for draws day after day, before Gukesh inched forward for the first time in the series with a win in Game 11.
