Alchemist, a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Copenhagen, is renowned for its extravagant 50-course menu created by chef Rasmus Munk. This lengthy dining experience, which lasts around five hours, comes with a hefty price tag of $700 (roughly Rs 60,000). The menu features unconventional and often shocking dishes, such as edible butterflies, raw jellyfish, and lamb brain mousse served in a bowl that resembles a cut-open human head. Guests are encouraged to approach the experience with an “open mind," as the meal also includes items like smashed chicken heads and live insects. Alchemist warns that the lengthy and avant-garde menu is best suited for those seeking something extraordinary—not for business meetings or first dates.

In addition to pushing culinary boundaries, Alchemist aims to use food as a platform for raising awareness about significant global issues. Several dishes are designed to spotlight concerns like climate change and animal cruelty. One such dish involved chicken feet served inside a cage, symbolizing the inhumane conditions faced by animals. Another featured fish wrapped in edible plastic, highlighting the growing crisis of ocean pollution. One dessert, made from frozen pig and lamb’s blood, further stirred controversy. Despite the restaurant’s efforts to raise awareness, many social media users were quick to point out the apparent contradiction: while promoting animal welfare, Alchemist serves dishes featuring live creatures.

Sharing the video on Instagram, the user wrote, “A more food-focused recap of my amazing dinner at Alchemist. I wanted to include even more details about taste and textures but I was sadly constrained by the 3-minute video time limit. My meal was from back in May 2024 so the menu will be different depending on what is in season. I have received a lot of comments and DMs asking about how I landed a reservation here. I didn’t do anything special, I just made sure to sign up for the Alchemist email list and made sure I was online a few minutes before the reservation drop. It also helped that I was hyper-focused on a specific date and time so I knew immediately where to go on the calendar when the booking started."
