IPL Auction 2025: Delhi Capitals Pick Up KL Rahul For Rs 14 Crore
Captain KL Rahul, who was released by Lucknow Super Giants after the franchise finished seventh in the IPL 2024 standings, will represent the capital city side in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Star India cricketer KL Rahul was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 at the IPL 2025 auction being held in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) on Saturday. Rahul, among the marquee players, was expected to trigger a bidding war given the multiple roles he can fulfil including a top-order batter, wicketkeeper and captaincy.
He entered the IPL auction at the base price of Rs 2 crore.

Rahul captained Lucknow Super Giants for three seasons after the franchise made their debut in 2022. LSG made an impressive start to life in IPL with back-to-back playoffs qualifications. Things though went downhill last season when they finished a lowly seventh.
Rahul allegedly had a falling out with the team owner as visuals of the two having an animated chat following an IPL match went viral. LSG then released the wicketkeeper-batter ahead of the mega auction.
In his IPL career so far, Rahul has been part of different franchises including Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and LSG.
So far, the 32-year-old has scored 4683 runs from 132 matches in his IPL career at a strike rate of 134.61. He has struck four centuries and 37 fifties.
Overall, Rahul has 7586 runs in 226 T20s which he has scored at a strike-rate of 135.85. He has six centuries and 65 fifties to his name.
Lucknow Super Giants broke the bank for the services of Rishabh Pant as LSG owners saw it wise to splash an incredible 27 Crore Indian Rupees on the Indian wicketkeeper-batter.
Kagiso Rabada was sold to Gujarat Titans for 10.75 Crore Rupees, while Arshdeep Singh was retained by PBKS as they used their right to match an 18 Crore Rupees offer for the Idnain southpaw.
Mohammad Siraj was picked up by Gujarat Titans for the value of Rs. 12.2 5 Crores.
Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 title, was bought by the Punjab Kings who paid 26.75 Crore Indian rupees in a record deal.

English batter Jos Buttler was picked up by the Gujarat Titans for Rs 15.75 Crore Rupees.
