A shocking incident occurred at a government school in Nagla Rodan village in Haryana’s Karnal on Monday, where family members of a student physically assaulted a teacher after the child was reprimanded. The incident, captured on video, has sparked outrage and raised concerns about teacher safety.
The altercation stemmed from a seemingly minor issue. An eighth-grade student was chewing gum during class when the teacher scolded him. Angered, the student went home and informed his parents. The parents, instead of addressing the matter calmly, stormed into the school and physically attacked the teacher who had disciplined their child.

Videos of the assault show the parents brandishing a sickle and a stick while attacking the teacher. A female teacher can be heard pleading, “‘Sir, run away…'" as the assault unfolds. Eventually, other teachers intervened, restraining the attackers and confining them to a room while the police were called.
However, before the police could arrive, two of the accused managed to escape. The remaining assailants were apprehended based on complaints filed by the teachers. The injured teacher is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
The incident has left the school’s staff deeply shaken. More than 100 teachers convened a meeting to discuss the matter and express their concerns about the lack of safety in the school.
“Now our lives are not safe in school. We do not want to keep the school closed, but it is not safe for us to go there. The accused have attacked the teacher and his nose has been broken," Ramesh, the head of the teachers’ union, stated.
“There is a staff of 21 people in the school. But everyone has come here to express their anger. The entire staff is scared," he further added.
The teachers, demanding their transfer, have appealed for increased security measures at the school. Meanwhile, villagers have also gathered at the school to express their solidarity with the teachers and condemn the violence.
