20-Year-Old Dies In Himachal Pradesh After Mobile Phone Explodes Near Her Ear

In a heartbreaking incident that underscores the dangers associated with phones, a 20-year-old woman tragically passed away after a mobile phone explosion caused severe injuries. The incident, which occurred on December 10 in Dalhousie, Chamba, marks the state’s first reported fatality from such an event.
The victim, identified as Kiran, was a resident of Bichuni village in the Salooni region of Himachal Pradesh. At the time of the explosion, she was using her phone while it was charging. Reports indicate that Kiran had just activated her internet connection and was engaged in a conversation when her phone suddenly exploded near her ear, inflicting catastrophic injuries.

Upon hearing the explosion, Kiran’s mother, Chanchal, rushed to her daughter’s room, where she found the young woman severely injured. The family quickly transported Kiran to the Primary Health Centre in Salooni before transferring her to Chamba Medical College. Due to the critical nature of her injuries, she was then referred to Tanda Medical College in Kangra for further treatment.
Dr Vishal Mahajan from Chamba Medical College confirmed the details of the incident. Despite medical efforts, Kiran succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, December 15, seven days after the explosion.

Due to the extent of her wounds, she was unable to provide any details about the incident before her passing, leaving the exact cause of the explosion unclear. The make and model of the mobile phone involved have not been revealed, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the event.
A post-mortem examination was conducted at Tanda Medical College, after which Kiran’s body was returned to her grieving family for cremation.
