During the Robinhood trailer launch event, David Warner joined the entire cast on stage for a dance. That’s not all, the Australian cricketer also performed his favourite hook step from the song Srivalli from Pushpa, which received loud cheers from the audience. At this pre-release event, Robinhood actor Rajendra Prasad pulled David Warner’s leg by calling out his obsession with Pushpa. However, his comments did not go down well with netizens, with many calling him out for ‘insulting’ David.

Rajendra Prasad has now apologised, explaining his statement. The veteran actor sent a video to the press, saying, “At the pre-release Robinhood event, I unknowingly said something about David Warner. You know me; I did not do that intentionally. Even before we went to the event, we were all having fun together. I told Nithiin and him they were like my children."

He then claimed that he and David were simply pulling each other’s legs. “When he hugged me, I asked him to prove himself as an actor, and he asked me to prove myself as a cricketer. I love David Warner, I love his cricket, and he loves our films and acting. If what I did has hurt anyone, I feel very sorry and apologise. I will ensure it never happens again," he said.

Earlier this week, at the Robinhood pre-release event in Hyderabad, Rajendra Prasad took a playful dig at cricketer David Warner. Mimicking Warner’s viral Srivalli step from Pushpa, the veteran actor joked that the Aussie star dances more than he plays cricket. However, what really sparked controversy was when he casually called Warner “donga m**a koduku"*—a phrase that loosely translates to son of a gun. While Warner, unaware of the meaning, kept smiling through the speech, many fans didn’t take it lightly.

Many people felt that David Warner was insulted at the event, and social media was quick to react. One user on X (formerly Twitter) called out the behavior, writing, “Worst behaviour. Oka international player respect tho osthey idha meru echeyi respect? (Is this how you respect an international player?)"

Another fan was disappointed by how Warner, who genuinely loves Telugu cinema, was treated: “Disrespecting and insulting a person who doesn’t know your language and who admires Telugu movies is an absolute shame to TFI. Absurd behaviour!"

One more user questioned, “Enduku ayya pilichi mari avamanistharu?? (Why call him just to insult?)"
