Apple makes a lot of money by selling its iPhones, Macs and iPads but the company wants to make more money and for that it will push ads across its apps in the near future. We have already seen this change happen with the App Store and reports claim Apple could bring ads to Maps for users as well.

The report from Bloomberg this week gives the details about Apple’s plans and why it might push ads to more products in the next few years.

Apple Maps Ads: Clever Or Unwanted?

iPhone users can see apps recommended in the form of ads in the App Store, and Maps could follow a similar path. Apple is clearly seeing its route to big revenue cut off by lower-than-expected iPhone sales, while other devices drop even more.

Ads are an easy way to make money, and Maps could be Apple’s next ads destination. Having said that, the report doesn’t give a clear timeline for this addition and they are only internally discussing where ads could become a possible avenue for the company.

Google has dished out ads on Maps for years so it gives Apple the right model to test and evaluate before the official roll out gets closer. But this is Apple and its products cost a lot more than what you pay for an Android phone/tablet in the market.

We have often heard the reasons of having ads is linked to the cost of making a device and selling it. Apple has neither of those on its side, so it will purely feature as a business move which is unlikely to go down well with the consumers.

The company is also facing issues with the Siri AI upgrade which is now unlikely to see the day with the next iOS 18.4 update. Instead, Apple could be forced to delay its release till the iOS 18.5 version in May this year.
