Is Ravindra Jadeja Retiring After CT 2025 Final? Fans Speculate After Virat Kohli's Special Hug | Watch
Virat Kohli's hug to Ravindra Jadeja after his spell in the 2025 Champions Trophy final sparks retirement speculation. Is Jadeja retiring?

Indian cricket fans’ speculation went out of control on social media after Virat Kohli was seen walking to and offering a big hug to Ravindra Jadeja at the end of his ten-over spell in the 2025 Champions Trophy final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Jadeja had an excellent day on the field. He conceded just 30 runs in 10 overs, picking the big wicket of wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham for 14 (30) for good measure. Although teammates embracing each other after good spells is common practice, Jadeja, 36, is said to be close to calling off his career.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) felt that this could be a sign of Jadjeja retiring. Some also compared photos of Kohli’s hug with Australia’s Steve Smith after the semi-final on Tuesday. Smith announced his retirement from ODIs soon after that match.

Jadeja hung his T20I boots after winning the 2024 men’s T20 World Cup in Barbados, alongside Kohli and Rohit Sharma. India have failed to qualify for this year’s World Test Championship final while the next ODI event is in 2027, the 50-over World Cup.
The same speculation has been rife about Rohit, 37, and Kohli, 36, as well. Reports have said that Rohit will discuss his future with chief selector Ajit Agarkar after the tournament.
If Jadeja does retire after this match, he’d do so as India’s highest wicket-taker in Champions Trophy history. He has 21 scalps, the joint fifth-best overall, at an average of 27.90.
