Does KKR vs SHR IPL 2024 Final Have a Reserve Day? What if the Match is Washed Out?
Ahead of the IPL 2024 final, the training session at Chepauk was briefly interrupted due to rain while the ground staff rushed to cover the square.
The MA Chidambaram Stadium is all decked up to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday. The season finale will see Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) locking horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH); the table toppers of the season. While KKR finished atop with 22 points, SRH were second with 17 points. They squared off against each other in the Qualifier 1, which Kolkata won by 8 wickets and stormed into the final. On the other hand, SRH made their way to the finals after outsmarting Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 on Friday.
But before the much-awaited game commences, the Chennai weather has started playing tricks. On the eve of the IPL 2024 final, the city saw a dense cloud cover and also received a little drizzle. The capital city of Tamil Nadu is known to be hot and humid throughout the year but on Saturday evening, a gentle breeze was flowing across Chennai followed by rain.

Weather on the Final
It will be overcast on Sunday as accuweather.com has predicted a 100% cloud cover in the evening with 66 percent humidity. But the relieving news is that the chances of rain are negligible. The temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius.
What if the rain plays the spoilsport?
If the rain doesn’t allow the KKR vs SRH IPL 2024 final to go as scheduled, the match will be shifted to the reserve day – Monday, May 26. However, before heading to the reserve day, the organizers will allow 120 minutes extra for the match to be completed on the original day itself.
What if the match gets washed out on Monday?
If the match cannot be completed on Monday as well, the team that finished higher on the points table will be crowned champions. In that case, Kolkata Knight Riders will win the trophy.
