Quinton de Kock played the starring role with the bat as Kolkata Knight Riders bounced back to register their first win of IPL 2025 against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday night in Guwahati. De Kock played a brilliant innings of 61-ball 97* as the defending champions chased down the target of 152 in 17.3 overs for an eight-wicket win.

As De Kock was making his way back to the KKR dressing room, he was greeted by RR head coach Rahul Dravid who patted him on the shoulder in appreciation of the match-winning knock.

Dravid has been walking with the help of crutches as he continues to recover from an injury he picked up while playing for Vijaya Cricket Club during a Karnataka State Cricket Association League match.

De Kock, who retired from international cricket last year, seems to have settled well with his new franchise KKR after being released by Lucknow Super Giants last year.

“I love meeting new people, being in new environments. It is about finding your feet within the team. Sometimes the team accepts you later, but here with KKR they have accepted me already with open arms, so it feels good," he said during the post-match presentation.

This was KKR’s first win of IPL 2025 after the defending champions started their campaign with a defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season opening game last week. For RR, it was their second defeat in a row having earlier been beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high-scoring affair.
