Who Is Aniket Verma? SRH's Latest Big-Hitter Who Scored 13-Ball 36 Vs LSG In IPL 2025
Aniket Verma, 23, excelled for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Lucknow Super Giants, scoring 36 off 13 balls. Despite a modest domestic record, he shone in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League.

When the huge array of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)‘s big-hitters failed to get going as usual against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, 23-year-old Aniket Verma stood tall. Batting at number six he smashed a 13-ball 36 with no boundaries and five sixes, ending with a strike rate of 276.92, which helped SRH put up a respectable 190/9 on the flat-ish track.
Though born in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, Verma has played most of his competitive cricket in Madhya Pradesh. He didn’t have much to show in terms of domestic-level stats, having played just one T20 for the state in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he recorded a golden duck.

But SRH’s scouts almost certainly went deeper and must have found that he was the top run-scorer in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League, the state’s local T20 competition. He scored 273 runs in six matches for Bhopal Leopards, including a 123 off 41 balls with 13 sixes. He had also made similar waves at the under-23 levels scoring a 101 off 75 balls with eight sixes against Karnataka in the Under-23 one-day tournament.
Aniket lost his mother when he was three years old. His uncle Amit Verma had the boy move in with him. According to Dainik Bhaskar, they went through a time when he did not have a house to live in Bhopal and his coach Nandjeet helped him through that time, as he worked on his cricket at Ankur Academy.
“Yes, my family background was not that strong. First of all, I went to the Railway Youth Cricket Club. There Nandjeet Sir taught me the basics. After that Jyotiprakash Tyagi Sir improved my batting in Ankur. Now I train in Faith Cricket Club," he told the newspaper in an interview.
About his dreams of meeting star players in the IPL, he added: ‘I want to meet Hardik Pandya. I will talk to him about fitness, bat flow and his hitting ability. Apart from him, I would like to learn on the rise flick shot from Kohli, pull from Rohit and flick short from Pant. Also, I will talk to Dhoni about patience and common sense. I would like to ask Bumrah how he reads batsmen. He is an expert in this art.’
