The Sadya Mela, organised by Government LP School Kuttimoodu in Thiruvananthapuram, aimed to remind people to not forget their local food traditions.

Influenced by advertisements and a fascination with artificial tastes and smells, fast food, soft drinks, and bakery sweets have become ingrained in the food culture of modern lifestyles. With changing times, many people are not even aware of the country’s traditional foods, which offer a perfect balance of taste and nutrition.
Considering this, a govenment school in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram organised a ‘Sadya Mela’ to introduce children to the merits of local cuisine and its authentic flavours. Based on the ‘Oonin Melam‘ and ‘Thalum Thakarayum‘ of the Maduram unit, this delightful mela featured rice and curries made with white curry.
