Aamir Khan Admits To Past Rivalry With Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan: ‘Jhagde Bhi Huye Hain…’
Aamir Khan says that he, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are much more comfortable with each other now, and no longer have any rivalry.
Aamir Khan recently opened up about the past rivalry between him and other two Bollywood superstars- Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. He said that all three of them wanted to be the best, and that they have also had fights and conflicts in the past. However, he added that the rivalry has faded over time, and after spending 35 years together in the film industry, their dynamic has shifted to a deeper friendship, with more warmth and comfort between them. He mentioned that it was during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding that he realized the comfort that they share with each other. He also hinted at the possibility of a future collaboration with them!
While speaking with Just Too Filmy about their past rivalry, Aamir Khan said, “Hum log teeno chaah rahe the hum baaki do se aage nikle. Usi ko bolte hai na rivalry. Toh wo to thi hi. Hum log sab chah rahe the ki hum aage nikle. Kabhi wo (Shah Rukh) aage nikalta tha, kabhi main, kabhi Salman. (Each of us wanted to move ahead of the other two. That’s what you call rivalry, right? So, that was definitely there. We all wanted to move ahead. Sometimes, Shah Rukh would get ahead, sometimes I would, sometimes Salman)." When asked if it was a friendly rivalry, Aamir added, “Kabhi jhagde bhi huye hain. Media mein toh kaafi aaye hain jhagde. Aisa nahi hai ki main kuch naya bol raha hu. An-ban bhi hui hai. (There were fights too. Media has reported many fights. It’s not like I’m saying something new. There were disagreements too)."

He explained, “When you have a relationship, there will be some misunderstandings. When you have a bond, there will be friendship, but there will also be some disagreements. But now, it’s been 35 years together. All three of us were born in 1965, and we entered the film industry around the same time. Now, that rivalry is no longer there. I don’t think Salman, Shah Rukh, or I are looking at it that way anymore. I think now, after 35 years together, there’s warmth and friendship between us that’s more visible now. Salman, Shah Rukh, and I are much more comfortable with each other now. We’re not into the rivalry that much anymore."
Aamir said that it was during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding cerebration in Jamnagar that he had the realization they were very comfortable with each other. He said that he made the skit with Salman and Shah Rukh within 30 minutes. “Jo comfort ke saath hum log ek dusre ko haa aur naa bol rahe the, uss comfort se mujhe laga ki hum log teeno bohot comfortable hain. And we are able to exchange ideas in a free manner (The comfort with which we were agreeing or disagreeing with each other, it made me realize that the three of us are very comfortable now. We can exchange ideas freely)," said Aamir.
He said that after the rehearsal ended, he suggested that the three of them can do a film together now. Shah Rukh and Salman also agreed. In another interview, Aamir said that he would love to collaborate with SRK and Salman if the right script comes along. However, he said that it might be challenging to find a good script for a three-hero film.
While Aamir and Salman have shared screen space in the cult comedy film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, he has never co-starred with Shah Rukh Khan. Meanwhile, Salman and SRK have starred together in films such as ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Hum Tumhaare Hain Sanam’.
