Riteish Deshmukh Celebrates News18 Showsha Reel Awards Win, Thanks Kakuda Co-Star Sonakshi Sinha
Riteish Deshmukh won Best Performance in a Comic Role for Kakuda at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2025. He thanked his co-stars and dedicated the award to Salim Khan and Ramesh Sippy.
Riteish Deshmukh won the Best Performance in a Comic Role for Kakuda at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2025. Later, he proudly flaunted his award and thanked his “partners-in-crime" Sonakshi Sinha, Saqib Saleem and Aasif Khan for their support.
Riteish was recognised for his impeccable comic timing and bringing humour to his role in Kakuda. “Thank you for the honour News18", wrote Riteish, while sharing a close-up shot of his trophy. Take a look:

In his winning speech, he said, “Thank you News18 for this wonderful honour. I want to thank my director Aditya Sarpotdar, producer Ronnie Screwvala. I share this award on behalf of my co-stars Sonakshi Sinha, Saqib Saleem and Aasif Khan. It’s really wonderful to receive this award in front of my friends."
He thanked Abhishek Bachchan, seated in the audience, for cheering for him and for always being there for him. “Meri haisiyat nahi hain but mere taraf se, ye award main dedicate karna chahta hoon to Salim saab, Ramesh ji ko (Salim Khan, Ramesh Sippy) for inspiring all of us here. Aap hain aur isiliye aaj hum yaha par hain."
Meanwhile, the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2025, held in Mumbai on March 20, celebrated talents, films and OTT series for their extraordinary contribution to the entertainment landscape. The Best Film award was given to Stree 2. While Rajkummar Rao won Best Actor award for Stree 2, Janhvi Kapoor was Best Actress for Mr & Mrs Mahi. Ravi Kishan got the Best Supporting Actor (Male) for Laapataa Ladies. Best Supporting Actor (Female) award was received by Jyotika for Srikanth. Arjun Kapoor (Singham Again) won in the Best Performance in a Negative Role category.
The ceremony also highlighted emerging talent, with awards such as ‘Rising Star’. Rajkummar Rao, Raghav Juyal, Pratibha Ranta, Pankaj Tripathi, Raveena Tandon, won awards in several categories.
