Lucknow Super Giants signed star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, but the 27-year-old left-handed batter failed to live up to the expectations of the franchise owners and fans on Monday (March 24). After coming out to bat at No. 4 for LSG in match No. 4 of IPL 2025 against his former side Delhi Capitals at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Pant faced six balls but failed to open his account.

He was sent back to the pavilion by Kuldeep Yadav on the fourth ball of the 14th over of LSG’s innings. Pant, after playing three dot balls against Kuldeep, tried to hit for a big six down the ground but was caught near the boundary ropes by Faf du Plessis.
At the time of his dismissal, LSG were reeling at 161 for 3 in 13.4 overs.

Delhi Capitals Axar Patel won the toss on Monday and invited LSG to bat first, after which, riding on Mitchell Marsh’s 72 and Nicholas Pooran’s 75, Super Giants posted a total of 209 runs for the board for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Marsh and Pooran added 87 runs for the second wicket. Marsh, who was part of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, faced 36 balls and hammered six fours and six sixes, whereas Pooran faced 30 balls and smacked six fours and seven sixes.
Pooran was clean bowled by Mitchell Starc, whereas Mukesh Kumar accounted for the dismissal of Marsh. Apart from the two overseas stars, David Miller also scored 27 runs from 19 balls for Rishabh Pant & Co. He smacked two sixes on the last two balls to take LSG’s total past the 200-run mark.
For Delhi Capitals, Kuldeep finished with figures of 2 for 20 in four overs, and three LSG batters – Pooran, Shahbaz Ahamad and Ravi Bishnoi – were sent back to the pavilion by Starc, who conceded 42 runs in four overs.
