Manoj Bharathiraja Death: Kamal Haasan 'Deeply Shocked' At Friend's Demise, Expresses Condolences
Actor Kamal Haasan and others expressed shock over the death of Manoj Bharathiraja, son of filmmaker Bharathiraja.

Actor Kamal Haasan was shocked to hear about the death of Manoj Bharathiraja, the son of filmmaker Bharathiraja. Manoj passed away at his home in Chetpet, Chennai, after a heart attack on March 25. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan also expressed his condolences to the family.
Kamal Haasan’s X post in Tamil can be loosely translated to, “I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear the news of the passing of Manoj Bharathiraja, son of actor, my friend and dearest director Bharathiraja. I express my deepest condolences to Bharathiraja, his family and friends, who are grieving the loss of him."

Legendary composer, singer Ilaiyaraaja,too, reacted to Manoj Bharathiraja’s death. He said, “I heard the shocking news of Manoj’s death. I am lost for words about this. Such a devastating event need not have happened to my dear friend Bharathiraja. Fate leaves us with no choice but the accept whatever happens. So, I just pray that his soul rests in peace."
Pawan Kalyan, actor and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, too, offered his condolences. His press note in Tamil can be loosely translated as, “I convey my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family of Mr Bharathiraja. I was shocked to hear the sudden news of the demise of Mr Manoj Bharathiraja, son of the renowned director Mr Bharathiraja. I pray to the Almighty for the soul of Mr Manoj to rest in peace."
Tamil actor Manoj Bharathiraja passed away at his residence in Chennai. Speaking to News18, his manager confirmed the news. “Manoj recently had a bypass surgery and was recuperating. However, he succumbed to a heart attack at his residence much to the shock of everyone. Bharathiraja Sir is on the way to his residence from Neelankarai. The funeral and other processions are yet to be decided." Manoj was 48.
Son of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja, Manoj made his debut in his father’s film Taj Mahal. Over the years, Manoj has played the lead in notable films like Allu Arjuna, Samidhiram, and Varshamellam Vasantham.
