Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets on Sunday (March 23) to get their IPL 2025 campaign off to a positive start. In the match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, CSK chased down the target of 156 runs in 19.1 overs for the loss of six wickets. New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, who was preferred over Devon Conway in the playing XI, top-scored by remaining unbeaten on 65 runs from 45 balls, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 53 runs from 26 balls.

MI gave a tough fight to CSK in the match despite posting a below-par total. During the season’s first clasico, which was played at CSK’s home ground, former CSK star Deepak Chahar impressed with his all-round performance for Mumbai Indians. The Rajasthan-based cricketer, on his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians, first scored 28 runs from just 15 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes and then picked up one wicket as well for 18 runs in two overs.
