In a video going viral on the internet from the post-match handshake between the players of two teams, Dhoni can be seen having fun with his former CSK teammate, who now plays for MI.
Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets on Sunday (March 23) to get their IPL 2025 campaign off to a positive start. In the match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, CSK chased down the target of 156 runs in 19.1 overs for the loss of six wickets. New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, who was preferred over Devon Conway in the playing XI, top-scored by remaining unbeaten on 65 runs from 45 balls, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 53 runs from 26 balls.
MI gave a tough fight to CSK in the match despite posting a below-par total. During the season’s first clasico, which was played at CSK’s home ground, former CSK star Deepak Chahar impressed with his all-round performance for Mumbai Indians. The Rajasthan-based cricketer, on his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians, first scored 28 runs from just 15 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes and then picked up one wicket as well for 18 runs in two overs.

After the conclusion of the CSK-MI match at Chepauk, Chahar, who is known as a close friend of MS Dhoni, was seen poking fun at his former captain, and in return, during the post-match handshake between the players of the two teams, Dhoni can be seen playfully hitting with the bat.

In the match between CSK and MI, Dhoni came out to bat at No. 8 for CSK, but he didn’t score any runs despite facing two balls.
Dhoni, who is the most capped player in IPL history, became only the third player in IPL history on Sunday to play in all 18 editions of the cash-rich league. The five-time IPL-winning team captain was retained for Rs 4 crore by CSK ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions last year.
Despite not making any runs with the bat, Dhoni made his presence felt in the match with his glovework. He stumped MI captain Suryakumar Yadav during the first half of Match No. 3 of IPL 2025.
