'Unacceptable': Rashtrapati Bhavan Reacts To Sonia Gandhi's 'Poor Thing' Remark On President Murmu
Reacting to the row, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said that the President was not tired at any point. She believes that speaking up for the marginalized communities, for women and farmers, as she was doing during the course of her address, can never be tiring.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday reacted to the controversy over Congress MP Sonia Gandhi’s “poor thing" comment on President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the Parliament, saying that such words have “hurt the dignity of the high post" and are totally “unacceptable, unfortunate and entirely avoidable."
“While reacting to the media on the Hon’ble President’s Address to the Parliament, some prominent leaders of the Congress party have made comments that clearly hurt the dignity of the high office, and therefore are unacceptable. These leaders have said that the President was getting very tired by the end and she could hardly speak," the press release issued by the President’s House said.

Reacting to the row, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said that the President was not tired at any point. It further said that the President believes that speaking up for the marginalised communities, for women and farmers, as she was doing during the course of her address, can never be tiring.
“Rashtrapati Bhavan would like to clarify that nothing could be farther from the truth. The President was not tired at any point. Indeed, she has believed that speaking up for the marginalized communities, for women and farmers, as she was doing during the course of her address, can never be tiring," it said.
“The President’s office believes it might be the case that these leaders have not acquainted themselves with the idiom and discourse in Indian languages such as Hindi, and thus formed a wrong impression. In any case, such comments are in poor taste, unfortunate and entirely avoidable," it added.

“Boring? No comments? Repeating the same thing again and again?" she added.
Gandhi’s comments came as she tried to show her concerns for the 66-year-old president who to her appeared exhausted after delivering her long customary speech, however, the BJP criticised it and called it a “derogatory comment".
BJP Lashes Out At Congress
The BJP slammed Gandhi for her “derogatory" remark on President Murmu and said that it is the feudal mindset of the Congress which fails to digest that an Adivasi lady is the country’s president.
However, PM Modi praised Murmu and said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), “Today’s address by Rashtrapati Ji to both Houses of Parliament was a resonant outline of our nation’s path toward building a Viksit Bharat. She highlighted initiatives across sectors and underscored the importance of all-around as well as futuristic development."
He said, “Her address encapsulated the vision for an India where youth have the best opportunities to flourish. The address also included inspiring roadmaps for achieving the goals we have set with a spirit of unity and determination."
“It was a derogatory comment. Leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should not pass such comments, especially on the President. Droupadi Murmu belongs to an Adivasi family and now she is the number one citizen of our country and that is not accepted by the Congress’s zamindaari mindset. That’s why they are opposing her speech," BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar said.
