Ajay Devgn is all set to return as IRS Amay Patnaik in the sequel of Raid. The actor, on Monday, March 24, dropped a brand new poster from his film. His intense look left fans rooting for the release on May 1, 2025.
Dressed in a shirt, Ajay Devgn let his eyes do the talking in the film’s new poster. The actor posed amid hordes of files in the backdrop, hinting at a new raid that’s going to take place. “Naya Shehar. Nayi File. Aur Amay Patnaik Ki Ek Nayi Raid. #Raid2 knocking at your doors in cinemas near you on 1st May, 2025," wrote the actor while sharing the poster. Previously, Raid 2 was slated for release on November 15, 2024. However, the date was later changed to May 1. Interestingly, Ajay’s De De Pyaar De 2 was supposed to hit theatres on May 1, 2025. But it has now been revealed that the film has been postponed and a new release date for it will be announced in the coming days.
Ajay has teamed up with Ashish Gokhale, who plays a police officer in Raid 2. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Ashish had talked about the much-awaited film and revealed that it is based on a real incident. He added that Raid 2 is “very different" from the film’s first part and teased that it will be more engaging.
“I cannot reveal much about it as of now. The basis of the story is ‘Raid’ only even in the sequel but these raids are completely different from what you saw in the first part of the film. Whatever you saw there, Raid 2 is different. It is more engaging also. This is also based on the real incident," he told us.
Released in 2018, Raid is an action drama featuring Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’Cruz, and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles. Devgn portrayed Amar Patnaik, a senior income tax officer, determined to investigate and raid the residence of a powerful politician in Lucknow. The film received widespread acclaim and was well-received by audiences and critics alike.
