Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein, together known as NJZ (formerly NewJeans), are taking strict legal action against malicious posts on the internet. This comes days after the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favour of ADOR, granting the injunction over NJZ’s activities. Following the judgement, there has been a surge of maligning posts against quintet across social media platforms.

To quelch the circulation of such false information, NJZ, through their legal representative SHIN & KIM LLC, released a statement on Monday, March 24. Their representative stated that they have been monitoring online communities and working with the relevant authorities to identify the authors of such malicious posts to take action against them.

“Currently, the circulation of false information, malicious slander, and insulting posts against our clients, which include minors, have reached a serious level. In response, we are continuously monitoring all online communities and social media platforms, including TheQoo, Instiz, Blind, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, DC Inside, FMkorea, and Daum Cafe," said SHIN & KIM LLC, as quoted by Soompi.

They continued, “We are also working with relevant authorities to identify the authors of posts and comments exploiting anonymity, and we will take all possible civil and criminal actions against acts such as the circulation of false information, defamation, insults, and more. When reporting malicious comments, please submit the URL of the post and attach a PDF file to the provided email address. Thank you."

On March 21, the court accepted the injunction made by ADOR, giving them liberty to prevent the quintet from carrying out independent activities. Following the court’s judgement, the HYBE subsidiary released a statement, appreciating the court’s judgement and sharing their willingness to openly communicate with the members of NJZ to reach a resolution.

The ruling on ADOR’s injunction was also expanded to prohibit the five members of NJZ from engaging in any form of entertainment activities, such as writing, composing and singing independently.

Just two days after the judgement was passed, NJZ took the stage as a headliner at ComplexCon in Hong Kong on March 23, where they debuted their new song Pit Stop. Despite the court’s ruling, the quintet used their new moniker, NJZ, instead of NewJeans and also announced a temporary halt in their activities.

After their performance, they read out their statement, which said, “This stage means so much to us and every single one of you who gives us strength just by being here. It is really hard for us to say this, but this might be our last performance for a little while. Out of respect for the court’s decision, we’ve decided to pause all our activities for now. It wasn’t an easy decision, but we believe this is something we need to do at this moment."
