Indian Fisherman, Jailed In Pakistan Since 2022, Hangs Himself In Karachi Prison
Gaurav, an Indian fisherman who was arrested by Pakistan in 2022, allegedly died by suicide in a Karachi prison, officials said.

An Indian fisherman allegedly died by suicide at a prison in Pakistan’s Karachi on Wednesday, local media reported, citing jail administration.
The prisoner was identified as Gaurav Ram Anand, 52, who hanged himself with a piece of rope in the barrack washroom of the Malir jail, where all Indian national prisoners are confined.

The jailer said that the doctor on duty examined the prisoner and declared him dead at 2.20 am, Dawn reported.
After the confirmation of his death by the jail medical staff, his body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal formalities and then to Edhi Mortuary in Sohrab Goth.
Gaurav was arrested in February 2022 by the Docks Police and was sent to jail in Malir.
Last month, 22 Indian fishermen released from Malir jail on February 22 were handed over to Indian authorities at the Wagah Border. They had completed their sentences for accidentally crossing into Pakistan’s territorial waters.
