Did Kim Sae Ron’s Agency Manipulate Hospital Bills To Exploit Her Family?
Kim Sae Ron's alleged boyfriend, known as K, had accused her family of neglecting her during difficult times.

Amid the controversies surrounding Kim Sae Ron‘s tragic passing and her struggles, her family has stepped forward to share their side of the story. On Tuesday, they addressed the allegations through Kwon Young Chan, the head of the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, presenting evidence to refute claims that they were responsible for her death. Kim’s alleged boyfriend, known as K, had accused her family of neglecting her during difficult times, suggesting that their actions contributed to her decision to end her life.
During their discussion with Kwon Young Chan to counter the claims made by Kim Sae Ron’s alleged boyfriend, the family also presented a hospital bill receipt. This raised suspicions of a possible financial discrepancy involving Kim’s former agency and manager, suggesting they may have attempted to exploit the family for money. Kwon also hinted that the agency might have mismanaged or misused funds while Kim was facing hardships.

Reports indicate that Kim underwent multiple emergency surgeries, with her former agency covering the hospital expenses amounting to KRW 5.00 million (approximately USD 3,410). Some critics argue that this amount appears unusually high compared to standard emergency medical costs for suicide attempts, especially given the comprehensive health insurance coverage available to all South Korean citizens.
Furthermore, no detailed breakdown of charges was mentioned in the bill receipt, implying a scam by Kim’s former agency.
Kwon Young Chan said, “Kim Sae-ron attempted suicide around 20 times. Her parents took her to the hospital 18 of those times. On the day that YouTuber Lee Jin Ho claimed that ‘the agency paid for the surgery."
Records obtained by Koreaboo categorize Kim Sae Ron as a “100% insurance-covered" patient, meaning her medical expenses should have been fully covered. However, upon investigating the payment details, discrepancies emerged. While the agency CEO’s credit card was initially reported to have been used for the transaction, hospital records suggest otherwise. The documents indicate that the KRW 5.00 million (approximately USD 3,410) payment was actually made using Kim Sae Ron’s mother’s credit card, raising further questions about the handling of funds.
Talking about the same, Kwon Yeon Chan said, “200,000 to 400,000 won is enough for wrist sutures and treatment. Kim Sae-ron’s family also paid around this much. Even for non-covered surgeries performed at plastic surgery clinics, the highest is 1 to 2 million won. The amount is not acceptable."
Meanwhile, Kim Sae Ron’s family tried to reach out to her former manager, who was identified as B, but they have not been able to contact them.
