Jadeja took five wickets in as many matches and hit the winning boundary against New Zealand in the title clash that sealed a four-wicket win for India with an over remaining.
On the other hand, spinner Chakaravarthy was a late addition to the India squad as he replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal. The 33-year-old then had to wait to games before playing in his first Champions Trophy match and he made a resounding impact, claiming a five-wicket haul against New Zealand in India’s final group match to secure a comfortable win.
With nine wickets, he finished as India’s joint-highest wicket-taker of the competition alongside fast bowler Mohammed Shami.
The duo will next be seen in action during the IPL 2025 which is slated to get underway from March 22. Jadeja will represent five-time winners Chennai Super Kings while Chakaravarthy will lead title defense of Kolkata Knight Riders.
Jadeja recently put out a story on his Instagram account to quell rumours around his retirement from ODIs.
“No unnecessary rumors, thanks," Jadeja posted On Monday.
Similar speculations were rife around the ODI futures of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Rohit quashed the possibility of Champions Trophy final being the final ODI of his India career by saying he’s not going anywhere.
The natural follow-up to this admission was whether the world cup winning captain is eyeing the next ODI World Cup scheduled to be held over two years from now.
Rohit said he’s not thinking too far ahead and is just focused on his game.
